The local football community is mourning the loss of 15-year-old Dylan Crossey who died in tragic circumstances on Friday night 7th October 2016.

Dylan was an enthusiastic, committed and talented member of Penwortham St Teresa’s U16 team. His desire to do well and his will to win have been evident since he was seven years old and he was a valued player, team mate and friend to everyone at the club.

Dylan's family have released the following statement: "Dylan was a much loved son and brother who loved nothing more than living life to its fullest. He was a gentleman and was growing into a fine young man. Dylan was an outstanding footballer and loved to watch his favourite team Preston North End both at home and away. Dylan was taken from us suddenly and without warning. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends."

Club chairman David Tynan said, “It is in times like these that football brings the best out in people and the club has been overwhelmed by the support that all the clubs have shown along with all our affiliated leagues. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by this tragic event, I’m sure the league and member clubs will join us in offering our wholehearted support to the family and friends of Dylan at this difficult time”.

Penwortham St Teresa’s charity partner, Sutty's Shooting Stars, use the mantra "Giving young people the chance to shine" and this is also adopted by the football club. Dylan represented a fine example of a person who firmly took his chance to shine, in football and in life, and he will be sadly missed by us all.

The Mid Lancs Colts League sends its deepest condolences to Dylan’s family and friends and to everyone at Penwortham St Teresa’s JFC. We invite all our clubs and referees to observe a minute’s silence in Dylan’s memory before their games on Weekend 15/16 October 2016.
